Agricultural OTC Swaps
Due to standardized contract terms and liquidity being concentrated to within the first couple of crop years, hedging needs have become more individualized and harder to satisfy. Instead of utilizing the standard futures contract, some market participants have looked to specialized swap dealers in the over-the-counter (OTC) market. Cleared agricultural OTC products can provide market participants with new products to help them manage increasingly volatile basis risk, price exposure, and counterparty risk.
